Gary Bagley
Former ED of New York Cares

Gary has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and a strong commitment to education, civic engagement, leadership development, and diversity, equity & inclusion.

Gary contributed his vision and leadership to helping build New York Cares into one of the leading nonprofit organizations in the greater New York City area, serving over 800 nonprofits and schools and contributing to the well-being of New York City communities. During his tenure, New York Cares more than tripled its service delivery – executing more than 20,000 projects and filling 150,000 volunteer positions annually.   

Gary's leadership has been recognized by The New York Times Company Nonprofit Excellence Award for Overall Management Excellence, and the Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation. Gary was named a Notable in Nonprofits and Philanthropy by Crain’s New York and one of the CSR Responsible 100 by City & State (an award given to 100 individuals from diverse sectors who demonstrate outstanding social responsibility and community leadership).

Before joining New York Cares, Gary taught curriculum-integrated arts programs to all ages of students and then held positions as Program Director of Young Audiences New York, where he designed and implemented 12,000 arts-in-education programs in 250 schools each year. He also contributed to TADA! as a teacher for 7 years and as Director of Education for 4 years.

Gary co-authored the "Volunteer Engagement and Management" chapter in the latest edition of the textbook, Nonprofit Management 101.  He is an appointee to the State Commission on National and Community Service and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Urban Fellows, an organization that develops people of color and women to be leaders and change agents in the public and nonprofit sectors, with a strong commitment to social justice and equity.

Richard Berlin
Co-Chief Executive Officer
DREAM

Richard Berlin, founding Chair of DREAM Charter School, served as DREAM’s Executive Director since 1997 and became co-Chief Executive Officer alongside Eve Colavito in 2021. Mr. Berlin began his journey with DREAM as a volunteer baseball coach in 1994. During his tenure, DREAM has grown from a summer recreation program with one staff member to a thriving community-based organization recognized locally and nationally with numerous awards for programmatic and operational excellence. DREAM now serves over 2,000 youth from Pre-K to pre-college across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a growing network of inclusive, extended-day, extended-year charter schools and community sports-based youth development programs.

Mr. Berlin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and attended a Master’s Program in Political Theory at the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, England. Additionally, he has completed certificate programs at Columbia University’s Institute for Not-for-Profit Management in both Nonprofit Management and Leadership Development.

Shira Fisher

Chief Development Officer
BRC

Shira Fisher, Chief Development Officer of BRC, has more than 15 years of experience in development and relationship building in the non profit sector. Leading BRC’s efforts in fundraising, communications, special events and volunteerism, Shira has helped BRC significantly grow philanthropic support and partnerships. Heading efforts to launch strategic communications initiatives, she has helped to put BRC on the map as a thought leader and innovator in the homeless services space. Prior to working at BRC, Shira was the Major Gifts Officer for World Union for Progressive Judaism where she spearheaded major donor giving efforts and established their annual fund. She also served as the Deputy Finance Director for Steve Israel for Congress. Shira received a Masters of Public Administration from Baruch College.

Stan Smith
Director of Developement and Partnerships
America On Tech, Inc.

Stan joined America on Tech in 2021 as the organization’s first Director of Development and Partnerships.  He is responsible for managing all funding streams, external communications and marketing. Stan brings to AOT experience in corporate partnerships, event fundraising, grants, and board development. 

Prior to AOT, Stan worked in development for various nonprofits including Rebuilding Together NYC, GENYOUth, and Youth INC. Before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, Stan was an Assistant Vice President and equity trader at State Street Global Markets. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Morehouse College with B.S. in Business Administration.
